An Ohio Republican legislator spun wild conspiracy theories to validate legislation that would tamper with the state’s coronavirus statistics.

State Rep. Diane Grendell, a retired judge from Geauga County, has introduced legislation that requires the Ohio Department of Health to release the variety of patients who died with COVID-19 and a comorbidity, reported Ohio Capital Journal

” Our company believe the information has been damaged,” Grendell informed the Senate Federal government Company Committee. “The CDC is in the procedure of going through every COVID-19 case and just 3 states have such, what they call, corrupt information: New York, Kentucky and Ohio.”

Grendell informed the Journal that she learned of that examination from one source at the CDC and another outside the company, although she declined to identify them, and the ODH flatly rejected the legislator’s claim.

” The claim made about CDC examining Ohio’s COVID-19 data is incorrect,” said ODH spokeswoman Melanie Amato. “The Ohio Department of Health stays committed to transparency when it pertains to providing information and has actually consistently followed the CDC assistance on how that data is and should be reported.”

Grendell claims ODH controls the number of individuals who are contaminated however do not require medical facility care, however the state does release the variety of hospitalizations and the overall number of cases– which allows the non-hospitalized cases to be subtracted with some easy mathematics.

Home Bill 624 also requires the department to publish other data that it currently publishes, such as the everyday test positivity rate, the overall number of tests and overall number of deaths each day.

” The daily COVID death numbers are however a little portion of the general daily numbers,” Grendell stated. “However the method they are reporting them makes it appear that COVID is the primary cause of death, and it plainly is not.”

The 75- year-old Grendell insisted Ohioans were more likely to pass away from the flu, which eliminates about 2,300 individuals each year in the state, than COVID-19, which has 5,900 in Ohio since March.

Grendell told the committee, but declined to use proof.
