The Qualified Nursing Assistant and Nurse Assistant is accountable for the tasks of personal care and incidental activities of daily living for patients of all ages in inpatient centers such as medical facilities, nursing houses and other organizations. Carries out care and entrusted tasks as directed by the nursing strategy of care and/or manager as permitted by policies and procedures of the center and enabled under state law/regulation.
Vital Functions:
- Offers client’s personal hygiene, grooming, and convenience needs, i.e., toileting and removal, baths, backrubs, shampoos, bed baths, tub baths or showers, and oral hygiene.
- Promotes a safe environment throughout care.
- Uses infection control steps such as hand cleaning and usage of personal protective equipment.
- Observes and reports the condition of patient/client to the suitable supervisor.
- Works in a team environment to effectively provide the care and help to patients and staff.
- Assists with ambulation, transfers and variety of motion exercises.
- Carries out patient-related procedures such as however not limited to: determining and documenting consumption and output; blood glucose tracking; urine specimen collections; measurements of vital signs; and weight.
- Administers non-medicated enemas, non-sterile dressings, surgical preps, ice bag, heat treatments, sitz and therapeutic baths.
- Safely applies and keeps track of the safe usage of physical restraints as directed.
- Transportations clients and equipment within the center as needed.
- Finishes other assignments as asked for and designated.
- Might have access to personal health information (” PHI”) necessary to satisfy the above responsibilities and responsibilities. Access to use and capability to disclose PHI is further defined by each organization/department.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- Should be 18 years of age.
- High School diploma or comparable and effective conclusion of Nursing Assistant course and Nurse Assistant certification as needed by state in which used.
- A trainee RN in the last year of school or an unlicensed RN/LPN/LVN graduate might be eligible for work as a Nurses Aide as permitted under state law/regulation.
- One (1) year experience in a similar task classification and/or as required by contracted center.
Knowledge, Abilities & Abilities Required:
- Pass criminal and abuse background checks, when needed by the State( s) in which employed.
- Able to interact with all levels of medical and non-clinical people.
- Able to check out and translate technical directions; usage vision and hearing to observe the patient.
- Requires hand-eye coordination and fine motor function necessary to assist in the operation of client care equipment.
- Evidence of present CPR/BLS training for infants, children and grownups.
- Able to provide evidence of a legitimate motorist’s license, if applicable.
- Able to provide proof of legitimate auto liability insurance if assignment( s) include driving own automobile.
- Fulfills relevant health requirements to supply patient care, as suitable.
Working Conditions & Physical Effort:
- Work is generally performed in clinics, schools, hospitals, nursing houses, client homes or occupational settings.
- Workplace includes frequent direct exposure to communicable illness, blood borne pathogens and/or possibly infectious or hazardous materials and situations that require following comprehensive security preventative measures and might include using protective equipment (e.g. face masks, safety glasses, latex and or non-latex gloves).
- Requires normal, correctable vision and hearing.
- Ability to stretch, bend, stoop, twist, stand, sit, stroll, reach and climb stairs.
- Medium physical activity that may require constant lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs.
