Vital Functions:
The Nursing Assistant responsibilities include, however are not restricted to, the following:
- Performs personal patient care tasks, such as mouth care, making beds, giving baths, perineal care, hair care, shaving patients, offering backrubs, and clearing bedpans or urinals
- Helps with patient security issues such as presence of recognition arm band, adherence to patient fall protocol and usage of restraints, placing of clients, promo of an environment for rest and sleep, reporting of incidents/injury events
- Performs treatments which might include urinary catheter care, enema administration, preparation of sitz baths, using compresses, and assisting with client ambulation
- May obtain and carry medications
Accountability:
The Nursing Assistant reports to the department supervisor/ director. Needed Competency Test( s)
Nursing – Nursing Assistant
Certifications:
- High school diploma, equivalent, or greater
- Present BLS accreditation or conclusion within 90 days.
- Successful conclusion of an acknowledged nursing assistant course needed or successful conclusion of a certified nursing program, Nursing Fundamentals or Introduction into Nursing course with either abilities laboratory or scientific rotation included.
