Position Summary:
The Nursing Assistant carries out delegated direct patient care activities to an assigned group of clients, under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. This position needs population specific proficiencies. Abides By National Client Security Goals as suitable based upon the level of client contact this position requires.

Important Functions:
The Nursing Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Carries out personal patient care jobs, such as mouth care, making beds, offering baths, perineal care, hair care, shaving patients, providing backrubs, and clearing bedpans or urinals
- Assists with client safety concerns such as existence of identification arm band, adherence to patient fall procedure and usage of restraints, placing of clients, promo of an environment for rest and sleep, reporting of incidents/injury occurrences
- Performs treatments which might consist of urinary catheter care, enema administration, preparation of sitz baths, applying compresses, and helping with client ambulation
- Might obtain and transfer medications
Accountability:
The Nursing Assistant reports to the department supervisor/ director.

Mental Health staff need to be able to help with physical restraint of clients, making use of the determined Habits Management Strategy System.

Ecological Conditions:
Potential for exposure to infections and contagious diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical devices, chemicals. Must follow standard preventative measures.
PACU: Sometimes exposed to patient being X-rayed. Often exposed to low levels of exhaled anesthetic gases.

VII. Required Competency Test( s)
Nursing – Nursing Assistant
Certifications:
- High school diploma, comparable, or higher
- Current BLS accreditation or completion within 90 days.
- Effective conclusion of a recognized nursing assistant course required or successful conclusion of a certified nursing program, Nursing Principles or Introduction into Nursing course with either abilities laboratory or scientific rotation included. Verification is required of the course and lab or medical via records or official notification from the certified nursing program; OR 3 months utilized in an INTEGRIS client care location with training and observation for nursing assistant duties, as certified by the clinical nurse supervisor or the clinical director; OR 12 months of nursing assistant experience within a severe care facility, nursing house, home care setting, or long-lasting care center; OR previous hospital corpsman medical training in the military needed.
- Must have the ability to communicate successfully in English.
- Department specific competencies will be finished in the appropriate department during the orientation procedure.
Float Swimming Pool only:
- This job needs the incumbents to run an INTEGRIS-owned automobile OR individual car (non INTEGRIS-owned) and for that reason must have a present Motorist’s License from the state of residence, in addition to a driving record which is acceptable to our insurance coverage carrier.
