Department Summary

System Vision Statement: We aim to be an unified group of specialist clinicians, administrators, and assistance staff that offers our patients with extraordinary, caring care through strong management, clear interaction, focused education, and evidence-based practice.

We are the Heart and Vascular Intermediate Care System for OHSU. Our main client populations include post-open heart surgery (CABG, heart transplants, VAD, valve replacement, and so on), medical cardiology (AIR CONDITIONER, NSTEMI/STEMI, heart failure, etc.) and pre- and post-op vascular surgical treatment (PAD/PVD, vascular bypass, etc.). Our primary groups are Cardiothoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Cardiology, and we work together with PT/OT, Dietitians, Social Work, Case Management, Speech Therapists and other members of the multidisciplinary health care team to offer exceptional care for our clients.

Our system is a conceptually adjoining Cardiac and Vascular Intermediate Care system with 30 beds on 11 KPV and 12 beds on OHS 7C. In addition, we keep the organization’s central telemetry monitoring program on 11 K (providing remote telemetry monitoring for adult and pediatric intense care systems at KPV, South Healthcare Facility and Doernbecher Hospitals).

Function/Duties of Position

The Qualified Nursing Assistant belongs to the multi disciplinary group supplying care to OHSU patients. The Licensed Nursing Assistant offers direct or general nursing care to patients from admission through discharge under the instructions of a licensed Registered Nurse and within the scope of practice defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing. They assist the patients, client’s families and friends, nursing staff, and other OHSU personnel to assure the shipment of detailed quality care in a safe, confidential and comfy environment.

Needed Certifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • State of Oregon Licensed Nursing Assistant 2 License sometimes of hire
  • Basic mathematics abilities
  • Fundamental medical terminology skills
  • Standard Computer System Abilities
  • BLS required sometimes of hire
  • Needs a range of shifts and days
  • Capability to assist patients and staff in moving and lifting clients
  • Capability to bring and raise to 50 pounds
  • Capability to stand and continuously stroll for approximately 12 hours a day
  • Need to have the ability to perform the important functions of the position with or without accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous hospital experience chosen
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record
  • Completion of an occupation training program in a healthcare support area (e.g. CNA)
