A dozen poems on love by a New Jersey obstetrician (1883-1963) who frequently wrote them on workplace prescription pads. In the title poem, very first released when he was 72, he wrote: “What power has love but forgiveness?/ To put it simply/ by its intervention/ what has actually been done/ can be reversed.”
